Local Inspectors. Clear Advice.
Reliable Service.
We help buyers, sellers, investors and homeowners understand the true condition of a property before they make important decisions
At Astute Building & Pest Inspections, we believe a good inspection should do more than tick a box. It should give you clarity.
Astute Building & Pest Inspections was founded by a qualified professional with deep roots in the building and property industry across South East Queensland. After years of seeing buyers caught out by missed defects and rushed inspections, we set out to build an inspection business that does things properly — every single time.
The name says it all. “Astute” means having the ability to notice and assess things accurately. That’s exactly what we bring to every property we inspect; sharp observation, sound judgement, and a commitment to giving you the honest truth about the condition of your home or proposed investment.
We know property transactions can be stressful and time-sensitive. That is why we keep the process simple from start to finish. We inspect carefully, explain properly, and give you the information you need without overcomplicating it.
Our Approach
We approach every inspection with attention to detail and a commitment to clear communication. That Means:
• Turning up on time
• Inspecting carefully — every safely accessible area
• Reporting honestly
• Explaining findings in plain English
• Helping clients understand what matters now and what may need attention later
We inspect every property with the mindset that if there is a problem worth knowing about, you should be made aware before it becomes your problem.
Structural Integrity — Checking for major defects, such as structural cracks, sagging roofs, or foundation issues.
Safety Hazards — Locating issues like broken stairs, balustrades, or risks that may not meet current standards.
Protection of Investment — Ensuring buyers are made aware of all the facts. It can be a costly mistake to purchase property with undisclosed, major issues.
What We Stand For
Moisture Management — Identifying hidden water damage, dampness, or mould, which can lead to damage of building elements.
Pest Activity — Detecting active or past termite infestations, wood rot, or damage caused by other timber pests.
Peace of Mind — Giving buyers confidence in their purchase by uncovering the true condition of the property.

Our Equipment
We invest in the best inspection technology available so nothing gets missed:
Thermal imaging camera — Thermal Master Thor-001 detects moisture intrusion and can assist with detection of termites within wall cavities.
Advanced moisture meters — Tramex Moisture Encounter MEX5 identifies elevated moisture that causes building element degradation and attracts timber pests.
Borescope camera — provides visual inspection inside wall cavities and tight spaces for - Special invasive inspections. Not normally utilised for standard visual Building and/or Pest Inspections.
Drone use — whilst we have registered drones and RPA Operator Accreditation to fly them for inspections, CASA regulations unfortunately prevent their legal use at most properties. Drone inspections when available, incur extra charges.
